Compounded Semaglutide is an injectable medication that uses the same active ingredient found in Ozempic and Wegovy. As an alternative to FDA-approved branded products, where appropriate, a provider may prescribe a compounded drug, which is prepared by a state-licensed sterile compounding pharmacy partner. How does Oral Semaglutide help you lose weight?

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications called GLP-1 receptor agonists, which mimic the naturally-occurring hormone GLP-1.
The GLP-1 hormone
Is made in the gut and attaches itself to GLP-1 receptors in the brain and the pancreas. This happens naturally when you eat, regulating your appetite and prompting the release of insulin.
Semaglutide mimics the action of the GLP-1 hormone by binding to those same receptors—without food having to enter your system.
When semaglutide attaches to GLP-1 receptors, it produces the following metabolic effects that help people keep weight off long-term:
Suppression of appetite
Semaglutide triggers signals in the brain that prolong satiety. This curbs your hunger and can lower food intake.
Delayed gastric emptying
Semaglutide slows down the process of food leaving the stomach, so you feel full for longer.
Promotion of insulin production
Semaglutide activates insulin secretion in the pancreas, regulating blood sugar levels and turning on your metabolic processes.

Semaglutide bypasses the need for food to start these metabolic processes, and has been shown to be effective when combined with diet and exercise —making it a promising weight loss option for those with obesity or diabetes.
